Who Doesn't Love the Elf on the Shelf??

That's what I want to know! I love the story The Elf of the Shelf (as well as the real publishing story).  I created this super cute elf word hunt for your students to read and write the room.  If you purchase this product, please, please, please post how it went.  I'm doing this activity when my students come back from Thanksgiving break and I'll be sure to post my comments and pictures!

I created this writing sheet with my beginning writers in mind.  They need bigger lines!  It's hard for my Kindergartners to write freely when they're intimidated by smaller lines.

Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day is the perfect time to introduce letter writing to your students as well as honoring our men and women who have served our country!! Our local newspaper ran a story today about the Coast Guard and how they are often overlooked when it comes to honoring our veterans.  So this story really made me want to do something special in remembering ALL veterans and what they have done for us. I also was impressed to read about the Texas Roadhouse chain of restaurants offering free lunch to any veteran on Monday, November 12th.  Since we have a Texas Roadhouse in our area, my students will be making posters, banners and placemats for this special day! Way to go Texas Roadhouse!!

If you would like your students to somehow honor a veteran, try this FREEBIE out!  It's special stationary I created for your students to write a letter of thanks to a veteran.  Try sending them to your nearest veteran's hospital or VFW lodge.
